1)
There is every chance of reversing a prolapse when it is in an early stage.
Unfortunately some women wait until it is too late to take action and there is a
point of no return after which a surgery does become necessary.
2) Dr Kegel found that through using resistance exercise it was possible to not only eliminate stress incontinence effectiely and safely, but that it was possible to reverse a uterine prolapse by as much as 5 to 7cm.
3) Dr Kegel did not invent the idea of pelvic floor exercises, but he did invent the concept of performing pelvic floor exercises against resistance. These exercises were commonly known as kegel exercises after him.
4) According to Dr Sherrill Sellman, author of 'Hormone Heresy' and a leading authority on women's health issues www.ssellman.com 1 out of 2 women in the U.S. will have a hysterectomy in their lifetime. The average age for a woman to have a hysterectomy is 42. More than three-quarters of hysterectomies are performed on women under the age of 49.
5) Infertility specialist and author of 'The Hysterectomy Hoax' Dr Stanley West M.D. says more than 90% of hysterectomies are unnecessary, that a hysterectomy is never necessary unless a woman has cancer.
Why are (Kegel) pelvic floor exercises not taught at every medical centre and hospital?
Dr Kegel was originally a gynaecological surgeon who was concerned at the amount of unnecessary pelvic floor sugery being carried out on women as far back as the 1940's.
The current supporters of his exercises are almost exclusively drawn from non surgical medical professions. These supporters do not have the same voice when it comes to changing policies.
From the 1950’s until his death in 1976 Dr. Kegel marketed his pelvice floor exercise resistance device, which was known as a perineometer.
The medical industry did not see great profit in marketing this. When Dr. Kegel died, his wife bravely continued marketing and selling his device for a further three years, but retired in 1979.
Since then the challenge has fallen to those outside the mainstream of surgeons and surgery practice to tell the truth - that practicing Dr. Kegel’s proven technique of resistance exercise could save you from an unpleasant surgery.
Because of the resistance from the medical profession to promote the approach of kegel exercises using resistance, there has been a steady growth in the number of surgical operations that women undergo unnecessarily.
The goal of eliminating surgery is no more popular in 2006 than it was in 1950’s as the medical profession seems committed to finding new and better surgical techniques; not fewer surgical opportunities.
“I was lucky that my doctor told me about the Kegelmaster. She said that as my prolapse was only slight I had every chance of reversing it at this stage. She advised me not to let it get any worse so I didn’t waste any time in ordering my Kegelmaster. I’m glad I didn’t because I am pleased to report feeling a difference since using it in the last few weeks already. I intend to keep it up because if I’m doing this well so far I know that things can only get better.”

“Both myself and my friend got the Kegelmaster after reading about it in the Irish Times Health Supplement. Although it has only been a few short weeks since we started using it we are both noticing a difference already. Thank-you so much for the work you are doing in making women aware of the Kegelmaster and what a difference it can make to a woman’s quality of life. It is so important that women have knowledge of this.”
