The reason why your pelvic floor exercises haven’t worked is that most of your effort is wasted. To begin with, 40% of women are not exercising the pelvic floor muscle in the first place as they either find it difficult to locate, or incorporate the use of abdominal, buttock or thigh muscles.
1) Muscle isolation is ESSENTIAL for success with pelvic floor exercises.
2) For pelvic floor exercises to be effective you must work the muscle against resistance.
Even if you do manage to isolate the (PC, Pubococcygeus) muscle correctly when performing your pelvic floor exercises, most of your effort is wasted because you are trying to build up your pelvic floor muscle without any resistance.
Think of a bodybuilder and the exercise they do to increase their muscle size.
They lift or pull against the resistance of weights and put pressure on targeted muscles. Subsequently these muscles become stronger.
As the bodybuilder gradually increases the resistance their muscles gets bigger and stronger still.
Now imagine a bodybuilder trying to grow and strengthen their muscles without using any resistance. In other words they are just squeezing their muscles and hoping they would grow.

This sounds obvious, but it’s the exact same principle when you try to strengthen and build your pelvic floor muscle without using resistance..
If you don't make sure you are working on the correct muscle and use some resistance on your pelvic floor muscle while exercising you will never make much progress.
Advising women to squeeze against nothing when performing pelvic floor exercises simply creates future customers for the vast incontinence and prolapse industries, for future drug treatment or surgery.
